Neurosis, psychoneurosis, neurotic disorder - a neuropsychiatric disorder that occurs due to acute and chronic psychological trauma and is characterized by the absence of qualitative changes in mental activity.

Mental symptoms
- Emotional distress (often for no apparent reason).

- Sensitivity to loud sounds, bright lights, temperature changes.
- Sleep disorders: it is often difficult for a person to fall asleep due to overexcitation; sleep superficial, anxious, not bringing relief; sleepiness is often observed in the morning.

- Headaches, heartaches, abdominal pains.
- Often a feeling of fatigue, increased fatigue, a general decrease in efficiency (see more: neurasthenia).
- Panic attacks, dizziness and darkening of the eyes from pressure drops.
- Vestibular disorders: difficulty keeping balance, dizziness.
- Appetite disturbance (overeating; malnutrition; feeling of hunger, but quick satiety when eating).
- Sleep disorders (insomnia): poor falling asleep, early awakening, waking up at night, lack of feeling of rest after sleep, nightmares.
- Psychological experience of physical pain (psychalgia), excessive concern for one's health up to hypochondria.
- Autonomic disorders: sweating, palpitations, fluctuations in blood pressure, disruption of the stomach, cough, frequent urination, loose stools.
- Sometimes - a decrease in libido and potency.
- Speech defects (stuttering).
